How I Started As A Makeup Artist

by - February 15, 2014

I have always been a fan of makeups but being a makeup artists was never my childhood dream. I always wanted to be a medical doctor. It was a 360 degrees turn when I decided that I wanted to pursue my career as a makeup artist.

I started to play with makeup when I was in college. It was fun trying out different colors but during that time, I am not interested to apply makeup on other people. I just wanted to do it for myself.

While working as a call center agent, one of my friends who was studying makeup at Make Up Forever invited me to be her model for the day.

I was excited but I never felt that I wanted to study and do other people's makeup. It took me almost a year to realize that I also wanted to be a makeup artist. That made me enroll to a makeup school and from there, I started to do the makeup of other people.

I am still waiting for my big break to finally make it in the fashion scene and make my own name. For now, I am taking small steps. Everyday is a learning process and meeting new people is not just an adventure but a learning experience as well. I want to meet all the makeup artists that I look up to.
