Don't Tax My Beauty

by - January 22, 2017

It's a good thing that the proposed vanity tax has been withdrawn. As a beauty enthusiast, I was deeply affected by this issue because I know the struggle of women on how to look at their best every waking day of their life. And the reason given out that if one cannot afford beauty products, then stop buying them, is a total crap! The thing is, housewives, students, professionals, and most women can afford it. Or at least, they already find the formula how it will fit their budget. So why put additional 10-30% on beauty products and services? These people obviously do not know our daily dilemma.

It's a girl thing! We can live without it but it will always be part of our life as a woman. And I bet, there are also things that will be part of every man's life. Really, I don't see the point of having to put extra taxes on beauty products. I mean why? Is this a proposal to have less good looking women on the planet? Whatever the reason may be, I don't think I will be able to digest it. Being a beauty blogger for years now, I always believe that makeups are used to highlight the good features that we already have and not to hide our imperfections. I also believed that it is best to splurge on cosmetics than to turn into vices. At least, these women are putting effort to look good and some even made a name in the beauty industry by becoming a well-known makeup artist. Putting makeup in oneself or to other people is not just a skill but also an art, an expression of one's self so to speak.
