#HealthierAngRelationships With Minola Cooking Oil
As a mom, I know the importance of using only the best cooking oil as I prepare everyday dishes for my loved ones. Although there are many different types and brands available in the market today, I still stick to the brand that is already trusted by most mothers.
Recently, Minola had a blogger's session to discuss the health benefits of using coconut oil. The event was held at The Oracle Hotel in Katipunan, Quezon City on February 28.
The guest speaker is none other than Dr. Fabian M. Dayrit. Dr. Dayrit is a professor at Ateneo de Manila University and is also the Acting-President of the National Academy of Science and Technology. He is also a Chair Person at Scientific Advisory Committee for Health, Asian and Pacific Coconut Community.
We are all aware of the many uses of the tree of life. The coconut tree is a member of the Palm family and can be found in tropical and subtropical coastlines around the globe.
During the discussion, Dr. Dayrit informed us that coconut oil contains Lauric acid which is a kind of medium-chained fatty acid that can also be found in breastmilk. Lauric acid has antiviral, antimicrobial and antifungal properties thereby helping the body to fight bacteria and viruses. The anti-inflammatory properties of coconut oil help to reduced swelling and inflammation. A small amount of coconut oil applied directly on insect bites can lessen the itch in just a few minutes.
Coconut oil is high in natural saturated fats and it helps not only to increase the healthy cholesterol known as HDL but also plays a vital role in converting the LDL or bad cholesterol into good cholesterol. With an increased HDL in the body, it helps to promote a healthy heart and also decrease the risk of heart disease.
