A Taste Of Spain At La Barra Manila
Marikina is best known for world-class quality shoes it produces. Aside from being branded as the Shoe Capital of the Philippines, Marikina is also known as one of the places where one can enjoy delicious foods. It all started in Lilac Street where almost every cuisine is being served. And now with food crawls sprouting like mushrooms everywhere, Marikina has once again given us the reason to frequent the city.
One of the newest food parks in Marikina is Tableria. It is conveniently located in the heart of the city, just a few blocks from Our Lady Of The Abandoned Parish (OLA) and just next to the Shoe Museum. Unlike most food parks, Tableria does not have any theme but is sure to offer its guests delectable dishes, cool ambiance, and an enjoyable stay in Marikina. It offers al fresco dining experience with live bands performing every weekend.
One of the food stalls worth trying in Tableria La Barra MNL. It was established by two good friends Jose Mari Javier and Jonathan Mark Ngo who both have the passion for food. It offers Spanish dishes and is best known for their different Paella offerings. I am not so much into Spanish cuisine but it's interesting to know that traditional Spanish foods are now available at food parks.
Croquetas PHP88
Not your ordinary Croquetas that is made with potato, La Barbra’s version is made from creamy Béchamel sauce loaded with bacon bits and cheese. The secret sauce which is a bit spicy makes it even tastier.
Baked Mussels PHP150
If there is one seafood dish that I can eat forever, it would be baked mussels. La Barbra’s baked mussels are loaded with cheese and Spanish spices and breadcrumbs gave it a new twist. One of the best bake mussels I've tried.
Paella Negra PHP330 (medio)
This rice dish is made with ink squid and lots of seafood like shrimp, mussels, and squid. Rice is cooked just right and all the ingredients compliment each other to create an all in one dish that is good for sharing. It's also available Solo PHP170 and Grupo PHP500.
Overall experience with La Barra MNL is great. Food is good and prices are reasonable. Will go back soon to try other foods on their menu.
