How to Dye Virgin Malaysian Hair to Gray Hair?
Gray is one of the most sought after colors for dyed Malaysian hair, but it can be tricky to dye it if you don’t know what you’re doing. If you want to know how to dye your virgin hair from its original color to gray, then look no further than this handy guide; this guide will provide you with a list of the necessary things you’ll need, as well as a step-by-step instruction to getting the best results with your virgin hair.
What You'll Need
Hair dye: Look for a "permanent" hair dye brand, which will give you the longest lasting results and is best used with virgin hair.
Clairol Pure White 30 Creme Developer: This is designed for use with powder lightener and will help you achieve maximum results with virgin hair.
Clairol BW2 Powder Lightener: This will help you during the lightening process, specifically creating more natural looking highlights and effects on Malaysian hair. It should be used with the developer product
Dye applicator brush: You’ll be using this applicator to apply the dye and other products to your Malaysian hair.
Foil: You should do your dye work on a large sheet of foil which will not only minimize mess but will be used to wrap the treated Malaysian hair for processing.
Towel: You will need a towel to double-wrap the treated virgin hair.
First, place the proper amount of Clairol BW2 Powder Lightener in a bowl; combine with the proper amount of Clairol Pure White Developer and stir until it has a smooth consistency. You may need to add more developer to achieve the right consistency.
Secondly, spread your virgin hair wig out on the foil or tablecloth. Then, apply your lightener/developer mixture to the wig using the brush, starting from the bottom of the wig and continuing to the top. Make sure that you cover the entire wig.
Third, wrap the wig in the sheet of foil, then wrap again with a towel. Leave the wrapped wig alone for about 45 minutes in order to let the lightener take effect.
Fourth, unwrap the wig and wash it out.
NOTE: At this point, depending on the original color of the wig and the results, you may be ready to move on to Step Five. In order to achieve a nice gray color, the hair should be light blonde. If your wig is not light enough, you can repeat steps 1 through 4 until you’ve achieved the desired results. If you do need to repeat the lightening process, you should treat the wig with a moisturizer to help reduce the risk of a dehydrated texture.
Fifth, dye your wig with the permanent Malaysian hair dye of your choice, following the instructions carefully. Depending on the desired color, you may want to use more than one shade of dye.
Sixth, remember to follow all of the necessary instructions on keeping your virgin hair and Malaysian hair wig in great shape and enjoy your new, great-looking wig!
