The Golden Land Of Myanmar

by - April 01, 2018

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” This famous quote from St. Augustine pretty much summarizes the importance of traveling and discovering new places. While most people I know would like to see the Cherry Blossoms of Japan, take a selfie at the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris, have a taste of the world's greatest beer in Germany, watch a Broadway musical in New York or perhaps relive K-Pop scenes in Korea, my dream destination is not any of those places.

My dream destination is not a rich country and may not be appealing to the eyes of many. I can’t even think of someone who would like to explore the wonders of this place. The truth is, I am fascinated with temples and historical structures. I find beauty in ruins and solace in a simple lifestyle.

I would like to see the Golden Land of Myanmar. I want to experience its colorful culture and let historical places take me back in time. It is one of the countries in the Indochinese peninsula whose culture has been heavily influenced by Theravada Buddhism, combined with several local elements. Myanmar recently opened its doors to the world and it has so much to offer to every traveler.

Shwedagon Pagoda is considered as the most sacred Buddhist Pagoda in Myanmar. This Pagoda looks amazing at any time of the day but it’s beauty after dark is even more breathtaking. Its calmness can be felt at night that’s why more people frequent the place after the sun sets.
