Zen Rooms Goldland Millenia Suites Review

by - April 02, 2018

I have been planning my staycation for quite some time now and since it’s Holy Week, I decided to look for a budget hotel. I was hoping to get an accommodation somewhere in Tagaytay but no luck. It’s really difficult to have a place to stay in during Lenten Season and I’m still lucky that I was able to find one in Ortigas via Zen Rooms.

Zen Rooms in Ortigas can be found in Goldland Millenia Suites in Escriva Drive. Zen Rooms occupies 19th and 24th floor. My overnight accommodation only cost me PHP1200 all in, considering that it's Holy Week so this one is really a steal!

Check-in time is 3:00 PM which I think is a bit late compared to other accommodations. Check out is at 12Noon. I booked a deluxe room with 2 single beds (but you may choose one king size bed.)
I was supposed to stay at the 24th floor but the room was not yet clean when I arrived past 3 PM. I was then given a room on the 19th floor. The room was average in size with the usual amenities one may find in budget hotels including flat screen TV, aircon, work desk, mini ref, safety deposit box, hot shower, and toiletries.

The room was clean but some of the bulbs in the room including the reading lamp are busted. I reported it to Zen Rooms and the one in charge replaced the bulbs immediately.

The room was pretty decent for such a cheap price. The only thing I did not like is that the staff is very disorganized. I have already checked in when I heard someone trying to open the door. I was surprised when she opened it and claimed that she was supposed to use the same room. I politely told her that I have already checked in and it’s pretty obvious that I was given that room first. I immediately called Zen Rooms and reported the incident. I was told that they have confusion as I was supposed to stay on the 24th floor so they thought the room I was into is still vacant. The one in charged apologized and told me that everything has been recorded and fixed.

Luckily, there was no untoward incident after that. Overall, my staycation has been a pleasant experience.

The cafe inside Goldland Millenia Suites was closed during my stay due to the holidays. But there are a lot of food chains and convenience stores nearby so I was able to manage.

Pros
Clean room
Quiet surroundings
Working cable and hot shower
Attentive staff
Convenience stores and food chains within the vicinity
Relatively cheap

Cons
Very weak WiFi connection
Confusion with room assignments
Late check-in

Zen Rooms reception is located on the 24th floor of Golden Millinea Tower. You can just show them your booking reference number, show them a valid ID and PHP2000 deposit.

The Verdict
For backpackers who are looking for a budget hotel, I would still recommend Zen Rooms. I did not have a hard time booking plus they have 20% off discount if it's your first time to book with any Zen Rooms. The room was clean and have everything that I needed. I would give it 6 stars out of 10. It was a great experience, however, they should have been more organized with room assignments.
